Wants - Can Make Or Break Your Day
We all have wants. Some are ambitions, others are just day to day items. Some we crave, others we covet, while others we just wishes (that we hope might come true). Just don't let them eat your heart out. What are we willing to give up to achieve what we'd like? You have to give something in return - be it thought and action, effort and commitment, money or time. You have to barter something to achieve your goal. Do we not agree with this implied equation? In other words, you can just take what you wish and to h*** with it. Do you think that is the really productive and satisfying attitude to have? Will it enhance your life? Will it move your life along? That is really a decision you have to make. My personal thought is that we seldom get something for nothing. And that the really important things we receive (whether big or small) are those we have worked for. Are those we have gone out of our way to achieve. They are the ones that really mean something, aren't they? At times this give us trouble. Either by over-elaborating their acquisition or being unwilling to make the required effort. Or for other reasons obstacles appear. At times we can question and wonder. We think about what is really happening in our life. What we are doing. What we are involved in. What direction our life is going in. At times like these words can be very powerful - healing, soothing, comforting, relaxing . . . The power of words . . . As we read we can let the words gently flow over us. We can let the words quietly be spoken to us in there own sweet way. I hope this page will do this and more. I hope this example will help to express life in an insightful, penetrating but easy to read manner. And help us to question the lives we lead and the manner in which we live them. We all have our wants if we would admit them whatever they might be we should not condemn ourselves if that is really what we want be it save the world, or just a meal in a fancy restaurant If it is real for us that is the main thing it might be a wish, a need, a demand, or merely a hankering after something better for this life in our hands we would do well to understand the demands That seldom is something obtained for no effort at all particularly when when we our life recall all of our actions in the past from our experience we should therefore forecast That though our wants may be our ambitions we may desire them, crave them, or experience privation coveting something does not necessarily make it right should we demand this just to satisfy our appetite For more and more and more things we suffer no hardship yet want our feelings to be held up for scrutiny and we require our wants to come to fruition for we dare Tempt fate that our cravings will come true though others looking on might misconstrue our intentions to be somewhat selfish when we lack something we find we cannot banish It from our thoughts or from our mind this shortfall is really an inadequacy on our part which is a real bind for we hate it when our wishes do not come true their absence, our requirement is all askew For we lose something of ourselves in the hunt we ought to know better but we take it as an affront upon ourselves in the way that we act we hate life not ourselves if we were being exact Yet we ought to have learned the error of our ways wanting just anything is not good or is it a phase we are going through, though experience would countermand this thought as we whimper I want it in my hand For too others we appear single minded lost in our wishes we should be chided but who is there to take us aside to put things into perspective, if necessary give us a broadside For they love us as a friend don't like to see us go round the bend over things of little importance they clearly see that what we desire will be the ruin of me For I have gone far down the path away from my center lost in my mind and what I do hanker for, when all the time that which I do roam is inside me, waiting patiently, all the time within me - my true home. All best, Martin
