We All Need To Accept And Respect That There Are Differences Between Us

There are differences in life but how do we cope with them, how do they affect us?

  • our family may have a different background from those of our neighbours
  • we may be tall while everyone else is shorter
  • we may have an average IQ while others seem to excel
  • we may be good at sport but no good at maths
  • we may be good at languages but no good at sport
  • we may not be able to excel at languages, maths or sport

there are differences, but do these contrast really important in our day to day life?

What is more important and irrespective of background is

  • a loving and caring atmosphere
  • an environment in which we feel comfortable to be ourselves
  • a place where we can blossom in our own way
  • a chance to express ourselves without fear of ridicule
  • a situation where we can act free of prejudice or discrimination
  • a place where we can grow and develop to our full potential
  • the chance to find our inner life within and explore that
  • the opportunity to contribute and give according to our abilities

And what do we all have but perhaps could use more

  • common sense, that innate ability to do the natural and sensible thing
  • wisdom gained by dint of previous experience and achievements
  • a healthy sense of self worth enabling us to excel in what we do
  • a mental image of ourselves that is robust and true
  • the confidence to stand up for ourselves and be our own person
  • the motivation to chase our own dreams, goals and potential

And how might we excel in our situation

  • by doing better than we have done before
  • by achieving new heights beyond our own expectations
  • by being open to new ideas and opportunities
  • to be free to hone our talents and skills, whatever they may be
  • to find ways we can give of ourselves for the common good

Differences exist but they do not have to hold us back - only if we let them.

And we let them if we let ourselves be talked out of being ourselves and living to only a proportion of our full potential.

And if we do not communicate our thoughts and feelings in constructive and productive ways, rather keeping them to ourselves. And being less than we might be in life.

And not to feel confident of our own abilities, rather to believe others who might say - you will never manage to do that.

And finding the clarity of purpose which is the right of each one of us conscious human beings.

And finding the inner strength and purpose to pursue only the path that we can take, the journey of life that is ours and ours alone.

Then the variations and variety, the distinctions and diversity, the peculiarity and similarity of us human beings will matter for nought.

For we will, each one of us, be on our path in life to not just glimpse our potential but to actively claim our rightful place in this world of ours.

There are differences . . .
