Take Care That You Sacrifice For The Greater Good Not Selfish Ends
Does sacrifice have a place in your life? Will you appear weak? Will it be misinterpreted? Will it help change your situation? What are we talking about? Let us look at a few examples. Is it the act of losing or surrendering something which sounds negative? Or is it for a good cause where the effort and action is warranted on moral or ethical grounds? Collateral damage? A way of saying that something or somebody is sacrificed for the greater good. But can it really be worthwhile? Does our value system really allow us to go ahead with such a proposition? Are we really that blinkered and self motivated to even think of such a thing, let alone carry it through? Selling something for less than value. Giving more than received in return. Knowing or unknowingly? At times we can happily do this and not feel we are losing out. And what part of us would be losing out anyway?
Giving thought, attention or priority to something. We are ignoring or putting aside a part of the life we have in order to concentrate on this action, this project, this task. It obviously means a lot to us. And that is fine. Provided we don't forget or give insufficient time and effort to our other responsibilities. Giving talents for a good cause. A sacrifice we can all understand, even if we do not participate. And something we can all do, whether it be in a small or a big way. Commitment. A hard word for some, a core belief for others. But without commitment what do we have? A half-baked scheme or effort, or the real McCoy? Which do we really want? Dedication or devotion is need for many a venture. Without these attributes we seem to be playing the game and not fighting our corner. Are we really in there putting our effort in or just doing enough? And will enough be sufficient for now or when we reflect later on our efforts and application? Offer up a prayer. We can all pray, whatever our beliefs or inclination. We can all pray to a higher power, whatever that means to us. And often when the going gets tough. It can give much comfort, support and aid, whatever we are going through. We can feel that we are never really on our own, even when the times and the trials get too much. Abandon or relinquish our position or stance, but for what? Is it worth it? Do we really want to? Is the cause really all it is cracked up to be? Will we regret it later? Is this something we have to go through? Let go or surrender. Accept our situation. Acceptance of ourselves is so important. And necessary. Put aside some differences. Give up on a faulty plan or strategy. Grow a little and develop. Get past a long held hurdle. Do it from a position of strength or is it weakness? We have to decide. Our life, our actions, our circumstances, and our consequences. Do without something can be good for the soul, or so they say. But what does the soul really need - recognition, appreciation, to be felt? Awareness on our part? Often doing without something is seen as giving something up. Let us be sure that we are doing it for good reason and productive ends - for us or others. Renounce something. Something to be avoided. Something to be given up. Something that has control over us. Something that irritates us. Something that plagues us. Forfeit. Time has run out. We could not do everything and had to forego something. Do we have a choice? Can we choose? Should we? Do we know it will occur? Can we avoid it? Rejection is hard to take. We feel down, depressed, a lesser person for the loss. Being rejected. A tough act. A tough feeling. Yet something we need to get to know. Not everything is for us. Not everyone will like us. Get over these situations and you are really moving on in life. Accepting yourself is an essential element of 'surviving' rejection. Resignation. I am resigned to that. I have had enough and need to move on. I have done my bit, now it is time for someone else to take over the mantel. Can be a positive and a negative. Leave positively, don't leave under a cloud. Relinquish. Give up something important. Sharing. Donating. Losing. Removing. Self denial. Be true to yourself. Understand yourself. No one knows you like you do. Deny yourself and you deny all? Look upon yourself more favorably. With affection and warmth. Don't view yourself with disdain and regret. What is a sacrifice? For gain or for no ends. On the spur of the moment or well thought out. Done for good reasons or none at all. Make your sacrifices count. Be true to yourself, respect yourself. Accept yourself and you will act in a good, honorable and wholesome manner. And be aware of the consequences of your actions. Accept your circumstances with good humor. Meet the challenges of life with enthusiasm and find solutions. Don't be afraid to act and do the right thing, whatever the circumstances. Life is on your side. Live it. Believe it. Be yourself. Make a sacrifice when you feel it is necessary. Live your life.
