Is Caution Part Of Our Value System Or Are We Always Full Steam Ahead?

Is caution part of your vocabulary, part of your approach to life?

We may always want to be gung-ho and sweep into any task all guns blazing and head straight for the 'I have succeeded' button. But life is not always like that. Life does not always respond well to that approach.

What might we need be aware of?

  • a little care goes a long way - it helps support and assist, prepare and demonstrate our commitment and respect for the task at hand
  • discretion should be your way. To be trusted and trustworthy should be part of you character and value system
  • take heed of the way life is going for us and what we need to do
  • be aware of our own rhythms and try to live in harmony with them

And we can practice the following

  • being alert to possibilites never did anyone any harm
  • being vigilant to opportunities as well as to danger
  • to have forethought - to think ahead of time and not after the event
  • to be circumspect when something within us tells us to be
  • to be watchful lest our task or project goes astray

To be forewarn is forearmed, or so they say.

Why walk into a situation when with a little prior thought we could have avoided it.

Why not assess what is happening to us in life and act accordingly. Trying to live from a basis of thought and knowledge rather than haste and a let us do it now philosophy.

Why not examine what we need to do. We need not use a fine toothcomb unless the situation demands it. But a prior look will do no harm at all.

A belt and braces approach, covering all of the angles, may not be practicable or realistic. But giving a little time and thought to the task ahead - that can only be a good thing, right?

But at times even the most cautious people must act without all the information available to them. At times this is just necessary.

At those times a little faith and believe in life and ourselves should carry us through to a successful and productive conclusion.

But when asked to do something. When requested to take part in 'X'. At times like these we can and should move forward with confidence - without having all of the facts in front of us.

Otherwise nothing much may ever be done.

Is caution part of your approach to life?

This does not mean we move forward with closed eyes. Certainly not.

If we remain alert and use our senses and life skills - then all should be well.

But we do need to be able to follow our instincts and let our inner being direct our path and our actions.

Remember to be true to yourself in what you do.
