In Giving You Share A Little Bit More Of You

What is the role of giving? Do you participate? Should you?

Or is this something that you would never do? Somehow beneath you or something?

Or you perhaps feel that other people should work for things themselves, just like you have to do. Why should there be any free handouts as you don't get them.

But here I wish to talk about the act of giving. Contributing. Offering a bit of you. Sharing a bit of you.

With others. For others. For the common good.

Where would we be if we all just did our own thing and never thought about other people at all? A very lonely existence and devoid of any feeling of companionship, friendship, of belonging.

Rather we should think of what we can do. Not to necessarily atone for what else we do, but because it is natural and fine and good to offer help to others.

We each can do things our way. We all have things that we can do for others. We all have abilities that we can share. Either to show or teach others, or to perform that others might benefit from our action.

And does this not feel good? Does this not feel natural? Does this not feel beneficial - for us as well as the other party?

Are we not here to contribute in our own way. To share of ourselves. To do things that only we can.

To find our heart within and live from that. To give.

To be happy in so doing. To get satisfaction. To feel productive, not that we are making or inventing something, but because we have communicated to another human being.

We have taken the time and the trouble - but is it any trouble really - to help another.

For one day we may be in need of help and assistance ourselves. Not that we are now putting something into the bank for a rainy day. But life knows.

And we will be repaid in kind - when we really need it.

A little thing here and a little thing there.

Sharing a little bit of you with others - will help the world to go round and warm our hearts.

Will energize us. Will enthuse us with life.

And we will look forward to the days ahead.
