Excellence Is Giving Freely Of Yourself

Excellence is a way of living.

It is a way of giving and contributing.

It is a way of receiving and accepting, being aware and respecting not only others but yourself also.

It is a quality of life. It enhances your self worth.

It makes you distinct as a person. Somebody who thinks of others and willing to help and assist where and when you can.

  • It shows off the goodness to be found within. To help and assist a fellow human being.
  • It allows us the opportunity to show what we can do.
  • It gives us the chance to work with others and really create something.
  • It urges us to put that little extra effort into our task or project.

As if life wants us to make our mark.

But by giving of ourselves we may leave ourselves vulnerable. We may find ourselves in strange territory. We may not feel that at home. Have we overstepped the mark? Have we used all of our energy reserves?

But our faith in life can come through with the knowledge that we are never stretched beyond our own capability.

Still, at times like these words can be very powerful - healing, soothing, comforting, relaxing . . .

The power of words . . .

If we let ourselves be uplifted and filled with their sometimes hidden insights. Let them gently and slowly impact on our lives as we read - and in the future when we recall their meaning for us.

I hope this excellence page will do this and more. I hope this example will help to express life in an insightful, penetrating but easy to read manner. And help us to question the lives we lead and the manner in which we live them.

Excellence is what we need to strive for
with effort and quality this can help restore
our belief in the life that we enjoy
which gives us the time to employ

Ourselves in changes old and new
and with these for our life to renew
with enthusiasm and excitement at the thought of the chance
to put effort, energy, commitment into life to enhance

The experience that we all have each and every day
high with quality - we won't go astray
and try to change too much at once
for that could prove to be a real nuisance

Situations like that we best avoid
for life is very much to be enjoyed
not to be slaved over and made a chore
if we are wise, let our character come to the fore

For we wish a life full of value, virtue and goodness
if one with ourselves we can contribute due kindness
if assisted or helped along the way
but also if not, for that sentiment should hold no sway

We want the best for one and all
if we do our best we can walk tall
knowing that we have done our best
excellence is a habit not a test

So with enthusiasm we show our worth
remain true to ourselves and Mother Earth
and we not fail to make our contribution
by ourselves - giving not taking is the right action

And from that stance we can go forth
into our world fresh, excited and thenceforth
show to others our true values and virtue
And help others make a breakthrough

Into life as it should be felt
harmonious, enjoyable and heartfelt
trying our best in all the things we do
sharing of ourselves and not asking for an IOU

As that would not show off our true colors
our character, qualities, goodness - casting aside doubters
who may not believe that we have their interests at heart
for that would not be where they would start

On any joint venture that would be shared
personal interests may not be declared
which leaves the arena in slight disarray
we want to help but dare not stay

For we wish for more peaceful endeavors
we want to aid - not just read our memoirs
that might talk of things gone, now past
excellence is our catch word - we cry at last.

All best,
Martin
