Effort - Do Not Attempt, Achieve - Do Not Endeavor, Succeed

Change and action need effort. How will anything get done otherwise?

What we need to do takes commitment, energy, dedication - a bit of us really.

So be wise and thoughtful where you put your energies. You (probably) don't have an inexhaustible supply - so use it well.

Change takes application on our part. Both physical and psychological. Think before you act. Feel and use your instincts, that is what they are there for.

We can view our efforts as a chore, but does that not depend upon what we are doing, the path we are taking and the direction our life is going in?

If we associate our endeavors as trouble, hard graft, toil, stress, blood, sweat and tears - then that may well be what we experience. If we associate our applying ourselves as achieving, being productive, creating, attaining, accomplishing - what a turn around in feeling and fortune we may have. We decide . . .

So as ever we have choices - do we put the effort in or not? And how or why.

We can get into things and over think and not make (any) progress. At times we can question and wonder. Are we doing the right thing - and not only for ourselves but our family and loved ones.

We can sit around and think or we can act. Sure we can have reservations and doubts but if we need to act then we should.

We can question our motives and try to find some meaning in what we are doing.

At times like these words can be very powerful - healing, soothing, comforting, relaxing . . .

The power of words . . .

If we let them filter through and allow the words their power to move and rejuvenate.

I hope this page will do this and more. I hope this example will help to express life in an insightful, penetrating but easy to read manner. And help us to question the lives we lead and the manner in which we live them.

Oh I wish life would not be the effort it seems
that tests my resolve and my regimes
for I really want to manage change
but would for an easy life exchange

This hard work for something much easier
but would it, I ask, be such an anchor
for me to engage with myself and my action
not just leave them alone and avoid the application

Of my talents and strengths in the ways that they require
to be used and made available that does not backfire
and blow up in my face at the least little thing
I'd love it if only the rest of my life with truth did ring

Enjoy your effort, enjoy the gain
manage the change, hope to attain
greater satisfaction, but don't refrain
from contentment that is not inane
accept joy, and help to maintain
your inner values no need to strain
you will achieve much no need to complain
your talents, they will help you retain
yourself in any storm, and you will sustain
your life on its journey over any terrain
and your mind and spirit you will be able to unchain

Make every attempt to be you
it makes such sense and it is due
to your having faith and some trust
and in yourself be willing to adjust

To this your life and your path
you'll find your way and footpath
through the thickets of life's forest
quiet and calm, or dark and deepest

Way that you find is your direction
in life you'll have the effort for any exertion
that you are required to meet or overcome
just give of your best and to your home you'll come

Rise up and embrace your achievements
be proud of what you do and the guidance
that life puts your way to help see it through
from here to there it is time to renew

Your values, virtues and your principles
that guide your efforts and also enables
you to forge ahead and achieve your aims
change is nothing if your rights you don't claims

Are you not glad the attempt you made
was really such a success
no need to worry about making the grade
you're just happy to express
your value system you happily obeyed
boy did it help your process
of mastering change leaving you unswayed
no need your mind to suppress
happy with your effort and admirably repaid
life is great you're happy to profess

All best,
Martin
