Defiance Rarely Is The Correct Action - Seek Conciliation And Cooperation

Will defiance help me to change?

Where might we stand?

If I stand firm will all be well. Will life pass me (conveniently) by or will I be able to avoid a confrontation?

I never thought of myself as being rebellious, but come to think of it . . .

I try to meet any challenge head on if I can. Sometimes this proves difficult or I get into trouble, but usually I find this the best policy.

Sadly taking defiant action is not always productive action. Sticking to our guns is one thing but digging our heels in is another. By not moving, or wanting to move or change our stance, we can put our venture into a spin or an early grave.

While this may be what we want, it probably is not. What we probably wanted to do was to make a statement. Show our cards and say this far and no more. But things can be misinterpreted or just get out of hand, in the heat of life (battle).

And sooner than later the damage is done. We have antagonized our colleagues or friends, seem out of sync with things and put ourselves in a corner from which it is difficult to extricate ourselves.

A good dose of humble pie can do the trick. Admit that we were wrong. Good intentions maybe, but plain wrong in our approach or our stance.

Get the communication lines open once more and get things moving. Perhaps listen more intently and closely to what others are saying to us this time.

And we can make good what has occurred. We can retrieve the situation.

And next time view a passing thought of defiance in a new light. And leave it as a passing idea, unless we are certain that the venture at hand is going off course and we should point this out.

But this time we want to keep all parties in the loop and come to a collective decision as to how best to proceed.

And, as always, reflect and learn from the experience.
