Are We Listening To The Rhythms Of Our Life

Are we listening to the beat of our life?

We may hear what people say. We may tune into the news on a regular basis. We may work as part of a team in our employment.

But are we in sync with the rhythm of our life? And is this the real task of our senses - to find, explore and to merge with life's energy and vitality?

What might I do?

  • I may hear but not be attentive
  • I may be attentive but not be focused
  • I may be focused but not take in
  • I may take in but not understand
  • I may understand but not assess
  • I may assess but not implement
  • I may implement but not do so well

I may do well - but did not take in what was said and went off in totally the wrong direction.

I may hear but not really understand. My grey matter not really engaged on the subject in hand.

But what can happen?

I may hear and respond to what is being said, but just within myself.

I may respond and contribute to the greater conversation.

I may contribute and expand the communication that is occurring.

I may communicate not just by mouth by senses and expressions, too.

I may show that my whole being is involved in the discussion at hand.

Interaction may take place.

Meaningful communication can be the norm.

And what does it demand of me but a small amount of my attention. My focus. My self.

To hear. To listen. To respond. To communicate. To share.

And to help us both move on.
